Goodyear, one of the world's largest tyre companies has recently unveiled its latest addition to the Eagle F1 family, the SuperSport RS, SuperSport R, SuperSport, Asymmetric 5 and the Asymmetric 3 SUV

The launch by Goodyear Malaysia comes after Goodyear’s recent sponsorship of three participating teams in the World Endurance Championship (widely known as the Le Mans), namely Jota Sport, Jackie Chan DC Racing and High Class Racing. 

“Racing is in our DNA. Throughout the years, Goodyear has been involved in many races such as NASCAR, Le Mans and the British Touring Car Championship, therefore, it is inevitable that we will once again align ourselves with high-speed motorsports. We continue to innovate to bring cutting-edge technology and differentiated features to our tyres. The most important aspect is that motorsports allows us to test our capabilities and push our limits so that we can eventually achieve excellent technology transfer and utilise development experience from the tracks to the road,” said Alex Ng, Managing Director of Goodyear Malaysia.

As part of the official launch of the Eagle F1 family, Goodyear Malaysia recently announced two additional tyres, the Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 5 and the Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 3 SUV. 

In addition to this series, Goodyear will be announcing a brand new tyre in 2020. This is part of Goodyear’s commitment for thrill seeking drivers and this tyre will enable all enthusiasts to enjoy premium tyres at competitive prices. 

When attended the official launched, Kak Fas was overjoyed to learn that tyres actually has its own different performance accordingly to customer's needs and car's specification.

All along, Kak Fas thoght that all tyres are the same and the difference lies on its value only. Well! forgive me cause as a women driver, we only think of having a good spare tyre at the back without realizing its function.

Fly With the Eagles

Designed for comfort, control and superior in the wet, the Eagle F1 SuperSport was developed for better grip and handling on the road. 

Through the usage of an innovative U-shaped compound, the Eagle F1 SuperSport Series has specialised power zones which creates pockets of control for superior wet and dry handling. 

The tyre also has a thread deformation protector which helps in maintaining its shape, allowing better footprint preservation for high-speed stability. To increase grip during cornering, Goodyear applied a closed outside pattern, which allows for more agile performance. 

Additionally, it also has a stiffer sidewall design which improves handling and stability.

Focusing on wet conditions, the Eagle F1 Asymmetric 5 offers luxurious comfort and superior wet breaking. The specialised thread design and Impulse Control Compound Technology, a highly refined silica compound, allow the tyre to endure the force of high-speed braking, shortening the braking distance. 

This compound also allows a patch extension through Goodyear’s ActiveBraking Technology, which allows the tyre  to slightly expand when braking to create more grip using its walls. 

In addition, the tyre is not only built for wet conditions – its Power Cushion Technology (stiff coupling of carcass and pattern) produces precise power transmission, leading to excellent dry handling. 

For larger cars and SUVs, the Eagle F1 Asymmetric 3 SUV is designed to be sturdy while promoting better fuel consumption due to its low rolling resistance. It is also capable of shortening braking distance through ActiveBraking Technology, in any condition. It enforces stronger grip, which makes it easier for handling and braking. Its specialised compound known as the Grip Booster compound increases the tyre's stickiness with the road surface, allowing it to be comfortable while maintaining handling when travelling at higher speeds giving the driver to total control. 

Expanding the family

At the launch, Goodyear Malaysia also reacquainted the market with its other tyre families, namely the Assurance, EfficientGrip and the Wrangler series

For the Assurance range, Goodyear offers a comfortable, quiet and safe drive of one’s vehicle by highlighting the Goodyear Assurance TripleMax 2, as well as the Assurance DuraPlus 2. The Assurance TripleMax 2 is equipped with the latest HydroTred technology for enhanced wet braking performance, while its asymmetric threads allows for better handling, and comfort performance for a quieter and safer drive. The Assurance DuraPlus 2, on the other hand, is equipped with TredLife technology and a specialised compound to reduce exterior noise, increase overall comfort, and at the same time allow for further milleage. 

The EfficientGrip Performance is a tyre equipped with higher gripping compounds that enables shorter braking distances on wet roads. Infused with ActiveBraking Technology, the EfficientGrip Performance increases contact between the tyre and the roads increasing the braking distance performance for up to two meters on wet roads. This has allowed the tyres to be A-rated by european regulations. In addition to that, it also comes with FuelSaving Technology that reduces rolling resistance by up to 18% in comparison to its predecessor, Goodyear EfficientGrip. The inclusion QuietTred Technology also ensures that the Goodyear EfficientGrip Performance is able to provide a quieter drive.Aside from the Eagle F1 Asymmetric 3 SUV, Goodyear also showcased the Goodyear EfficientGrip Performance SUV. Similar to the EfficientGrip Performance, the EfficientGrip Performance SUV is designed to be quiet and comfortable to fit luxury highway SUVs. In addition to that, with reinforced and robust construction, the EfficientGrip Performance is equipped to match all driving conditions. Its QuietTred Technology reduces exterior and interior noise levels to provide luxury SUV drivers with a quieter ride. Goodyear’s FlexContact technology uses heavier gauge under thread and barrier cushion that reduces vibration and increases tire insulation for improved ride comfort.
When it comes to the Wrangler series, the Goodyear Wrangler AT SilentTrac is equipped with Durawall technology provides light off-road durability with improved quiet and comfort for on-road and extended mileage, to achieve the best balance between on and off road. For the Goodyear Wrangler DuraTrac, the pattern offers additional transaction through its TractiveGroove Technology, which allows the treds to offer better grip in off-road situations. Furthermore, its highly angled centre tread blocks enhance traction as well as adds stability to reduce road noise, leading to a quieter drive. 

“Each pattern was passionately designed to suit consumer demands depending on preference. we know that the tyre is in between the road and the drivers ability to have control of the vehicle. Hence, we continuously enhance our HydroTred technology to achieve better braking performance on wet roads as well as in various conditions. Bata Malaysia presented school shoes to a total of 150 children from Gereja St Mark, Seremban in anticipation of the new school year. 

The event took place recently at the Bata store located in Nu Sentral, Kuala Lumpur (LG 1.08 & 09 – First Floor) and was attended by 20 underprivileged children as representatives.

The school shoes were presented by Bata Malaysia’s Managing Director Mr Ajay Ramachandran along with the company’s latest Social Media Influencer for its Back to School campaign, Malaysia’s first astronaut Dato’ Dr. Sheikh Muszaphar Shukor.

Accompanied by a few facilitators along with Bata Malaysia representatives, the children had the opportunity to select their preferred school shoes at the store. 

The children, aged from 7 years old onwards, were thrilled to receive their brand new pair of school shoes for the 2020 school year.

This sponsorship event is part of Bata’s annual corporate social responsibility programme. This is when the company gives back to the community by providing shoes to the underprivileged sector within the nation.

Mr Ramachandran expressed that Bata believes in aiding children as best as it can in order for them to reach their full potential. “Providing school shoes may be a simple act but it is essential for children, no matter their life’s situation, to have proper footwear for school. There’s simply no doubt that comfort and proper fit can enhance mood, concentration and ability to learn in the classroom,” described the company’s managing director.

Meanwhile, Dato’ Dr. Sheikh Muszaphar shared that he was happy to be a part of the programme. “I always believe in giving back to the community – it’s great that Bata shares this belief with me. It’s also absolutely vital that companies do not disregard this responsibility and instead, do their best to support where they can,” stated Dato’ Dr. Sheikh.

Malaysians can now experience the fuel that powered a world record at their neighbourhood Caltex service station. 

Brought to you by Chevron Malaysia Limited, Caltexwith Techron®recently powered a 28-year-old car up a 1,000m ascent in record time, setting a new GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS® title for the ‘Fastest Ascent of Doi Chang Mountain Road by Car’.

Revealed through the ‘Record Rides’ two-part series on National Geographic, with Caltex as the sole presenting partner, the attempt was part of Caltex’s Fuel Power Challenge.

It saw Jamaican-Chinese professional race car driver, Natasha Chang, and television host, KC Montero, compete against the clock to reach the summit of Doi Chang Mountain in record time. 

At the end, it was Natasha who achieved the coveted title with 6 minutes 52.692 seconds, and arguably the craziest, record-breaking driving experience in Asia.

Raya is in full bloom at Sunway Pyramid as the lifestyle shopping mall celebrates the festive season with a Bunga-Bunga Raya themed concourse 

Known as the "celebratory flower" in Malay, the hibiscus will be the central theme of the Orange Concourse on LG2 this Raya from now until 9th June. 

"Under the umbrella theme of 'Bunga-bunga Raya', Sunway Pyramid has chosen our national flower - the hibiscus to symbolize togetherness. Just like how the different shapes and sizes of hibiscus reflect unity through diversity, we hope this Raya the spirit of togetherness continues to strengthen through the years" said HC Chan, Chief Executive Officer of Sunway Malls & Theme Parks.

Each mall has their take on this year's festivities with the unifying theme of celebrating the flowers of Malaysia; from Hibiscus, Orchids, Bougainvillea, Geranium, Morning Glory and Jasmine. Aside from being aesthetically pleasing, each flower also has a different symbolic meaning such as togetherness, celebration, forgiveness, hope, new beginnings and purity respectively.

Sunway Pyramid also teamed up with Naza Group of Companies to a gift of one lucky shopper with a Limited Edition Vespa. The stylish Vespa will be made extra special with artwork done by famous doodles artist Fritilldea.

In addition, all Samsung 2019 QLED TVs will feature HDR10+, a premium picture processing format. The HDR10+ standard makes bright scenes brighter and dark scenes darker by optimising the contrast for each scene, so that users can enjoy a detail-rich picture. The QLED 8K TVs will also support HDMI 2.1 (8K 60P) transmission.
Magic Screen Offers an even greater Variety of Decoration and Art

Yes, happening from 8th April till 14 April 2019, Casio Malaysia will hold a week long exhibition at the Centre Court, Mid Vallewy Megamall, Kuala Lumpur, introducing its latest innovation from Casio's G-SHOCK line up - the Carbon G-SHOCK of 2019 featuring a carbon fiberb also known as the "third generation of toughness".

As Malaysians celebrate the country’s 61st independence day, Carousell, Republic of Bricks (ROB) and Sunway Pyramid Mall unveiled an array of unique murals built entirely from LEGO bricks celebrating our country.

Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad and Tun Dr. Siti Hasmah’s LEGO mural is the highlight of the exhibition, beginning 30th August to Sunday, 2 September 2018 at LG2, Central Avenue, Sunway Pyramid.

18 unique LEGO mosaics will also be on display, featuring interesting Malaysian moments, culture and sceneries, coupled with LEGO-themed activities for visitors by Carousell. LEGO fans can also connect with LEGO collectors across Malaysia on Carousell.

Over the years, the group has gathered LEGO hobbyists across the country to learn and share their passion. It was a joy to witness them receiving their Christmas gift that they had wished for. Their faces shines with happiness as they unwrapped and found their wishes came through. The excitement level was undeniable,

Yes they are the 70 children from both Rumah Charis and Rumah Victory that received their presents from Santa Claus and Santarina at the ‘Give a Gift’ charity event at Damansara City  Mall (DC Mall) recently. Kak Fas was there to witness the event and in between could not resist taking some shots of the malls Christmas decorations.

This true spirit of Christmas -one of love, kindness and giving that brings joy into the children's heart were made possible by a campaign organized by Damansara CIty Mall from 6th December to 18th December 2017 themed "Give a Gift'. 

Through this charity event, both homes requested in advance what the children wanted on a wish cards.

These Wish Cards were earlier filled up personally by the children, each containing details of gifts the child would like to receive. 

And on that note, patrons of the mall were able to pick out any of the 70 Wish Cards off on the Christmas Tree located at the Main Concourse at Level 1.

They will then purchase the specified gift for the child and deposit them at the mall’s Concierge located at the Ground Floor.

Bagi MILO, sukan memainkan peranan sebagai pendidik untuk membentuk karakter dan menerapkan nilai-nilai murni dalam kehidupan anak demi masa depan yang lebih baik. Selain itu, sukan juga membantu mematangkan mereka agar terus berusaha untuk mengecapi kecemerlangan berterusan.

Tambahnya lagi: “Sebagaimana yang telah dikongsi oleh para atlet dan jurulatih negara, nilai-nilai murni ini dapat membantu melahirkan kanak-kanak yang serba-boleh dan lebih yakin dalam menghadapi pelbagai cabaran kehidupan.”

Dalam majlis tersebut, pemain skuasy negara, Ng Eain Yow  berkongsi pengalaman berharga yang dikutip sepanjang kerjaya sukannya. Menurutnya, disiplin, semangat berpasukan dan usaha tanpa mengenal erti putus asa merupakan kunci kerjayaan. Bagi Eain Yow, nilai-nilai ini bukan sahaja mendorong beliau agar menjadi atlet yang lebih baik tetapi juga memberi perubahan positif dalam pelbagai aspek kehidupannya.

Turut sependapat dengan Eain Yow adalah bekas ratu boling negara, Shazlin Zulkifli yang berkata, nilai-nilai murni yang diperoleh daripada sukan telah membantu mematangkan dirinya dalam menghadapi cabaran kehidupan harian. Kini, beliau turut menerapkan nilai-nilai murni yang sama dalam mendidik anak perempuannya.

Sementara itu, bekas guru dan jurulatih bola keranjang negara, Sim Sin Heng pula mendapati kanak-kanak yang aktif bersukan juga memiliki daya motivasi yang lebih tinggi. Golongan kanak-kanak ini lebih mudah berinteraksi dengan rakan sebaya dan akan menjadi individu yang lebih cekap. Pengalaman seperti ini tidak boleh diterap melalui buku dan hanya boleh diperoleh melalui pelbagai aktiviti fizikal luar.

Sejajar dengan komitmen untuk membangunkan bakat-bakat sukan negara, MILO mula memperkenalkan MILO Champions Clinic pada tahun 2015. Program yang berlangsung selama lapan minggu itu memberi peluang kepada kanak-kanak untuk berlatih di bawah satu panel jurulatih bertauliah bagi meneroka dan mengesan minat serta bakat sukan masing-masing.

Setakat hari ini, inisiatif MILO Champions Clinic telah berjaya memanfaatkan seramai 2,600 kanak-kanak dan memberi peluang kepada ibu bapa untuk mendorong anak-anak mereka agar lebih aktif bersukan.

Selain itu, MILO turut memanfaatkan dari inovasi teknologi dengan menyalurkan maklumat berguna kepada kanak-kanak dan mendorong mereka agar lebih aktif bersukan.

While trend for fresh food consumption is gaining prominence locally, the humid weather has made it difficult to preserve food, irrespective of the food conditions. As Premium Partner of the prestigious Formula One Sauber F1® Team, independent Swiss watch-maker, EDOX, held a meet and greet session with Sauber F1® Team driver Pascal Wehrlein on 27 September 2017 at the Marriot Putrajaya Hotel. Guests had a chance to take part in a photograph and autograph signing session as well as witness local youths who are aspiring F1® drivers interview Pascal Wehrlein.

Followed up was a candid interview between our local children who are aspiring F1® drivers
and Pascal Wehrlein. Many F1 drivers developed their skills from a young age and most
start from the go-karting arena. Therefore, it was apt to invite two aspiring young go-kart
drivers from Malaysia, Oscar Ng and Hayden Haikal who are both aged 13 to ask a few
questions to the F1 driver. By providing this special meet and greet session to the two young
drivers, Edox was proud to promote and encourage the racing scene in Malaysia.

Hayden Haikal is a shy 13 year old Malaysia who exerts his force only on the race track and
loves to race as he receives an adrenaline rush when he overtakes his opponents on the
race track. His inspiration for racing started from his father who is an avid fan of the F1 races

and a racer himself. Hayden wanted to know from the F1 driver what he would do if he were
not a F1 driver and Pascal Wehrlein shared that he would still be involved in cars as his
passion for cars runs deeps.

Oscar Ng is another aspiring racer from Malaysia who started his journey when he was 7
years old. While Oscar started racing due to encouragement from his father, he grew to love
the sport and today karts in many regional races to hone his skill. Oscar has grown to
become a focused young man who wanted to know from Pascal Wehrlein if training on a
simulator will help his to develop his skills on go-kart races. The F1 driver shared that
simulator training is in fact part of the training regime of every F1 team.

Enclosed transcript of Question and Answers asked by Oscar,  Hayden and Pamela to Pascal that you may want to know:

1. How do you prepare yourself for every race?
Pascal - It depends on which race. For this one (Malaysia Grand Prix) it’s very difficult for the drivers because it’s so hot! You’re (Hayden) used to it, because you live here. But for someone like me, from Europe, it’s very hot. So in Europe we started going to the Sauna to adjust to the humidity and we do a lot of endurance trainings to prepare for the heat.
2. What is the weirdest thing a fan has ever done to you?
I received phone numbers and text messages from strangers. That felt pretty weird for me.
3. If you were not a racer, what would you be doing?
If I were not a racer, I will still do things that are related to cars. Engineer or mechanic maybe? Definitely something about cars because I love them.
4. Other than your family, who do you look up to the most and why?
I look up to everybody in the sports industry because I know how tough it is. All the sports athletes are very respectable and I look up to them a lot.

Oscar Ng:-
1) What inspired you to be a racing driver?
Pascal - I’m always interested in racing. I started following F1 when I was 4 or 5 years old. I always watched F1 with my dad and there was once we went to Hokenheim, we watched a live race there. When I was 5 or 6 years, I told my dad that one day I want to be there, one day I want to drive these cars. After that, I started karting just like you, when I was 8 years old.
2) Do you set a certain target before a GP or do you just try to do your best and accept whatever you get?
Erm... I mean the target is always to win. But now at the moment it’s quite difficult to win F1 with a team other than Mercedes, Red Bull, or Ferrari. So you have to set different targets. But as you said, the most important things is to alway be ambitious and hungry to win races. But if it’s not possible, you just need to do your best.
3) Do you think computer games or racing simulator can help drivers to develop their skills?
We use simulators quite a lot. Mostly it’s for the engineers. But it’s also useful for the drivers if you go to a new track or when you join a new team. It’s very good to know the steering wheels, buttons, switches or the procedures though the simulator. But not so much for improving your skills, while the simulator is quite realistic, it is still different from the real cars.
4) How much knowledge of the technology of the cars do drivers need to know?
That really depends on the driver. Some drivers like to know everything while some drivers are not interested at all and just leave it to the team. Some drivers work closely with engineers and mechanics in the team. They tell them how the car feels and they will adjust the car to what they think is the best. For me, I am interested in everything such as how the car works, how you have to set it up with the new technology, I always want to know what is going on with the car.
5) How do you maintain your body fitness? Do you swim frequently?
Swimming? Not so much. Not so much swimming but I love running, I go to gym quite frequent, mountain biking and things like these.

1. For you, what is timing all about?
Pascal - I think nowadays timing is everything. We have so many meetings in a day and we have to always be on time. When you are in the car, time is you biggest enemy! We wants to be as quick as possible.
Like I said, we have so many different meetings and appointments where we have to always be on time. So a good watch is very important!
2. What do you look out for a watch? What’s important in a watch for you?
First, it needs to look well on me, I have to like it, feels comfortable, always on time and easy to manage.
3. What do you like most about the Edox watch that we have?
It looks good when I race and when I go for dinner.
4. Last but not least, maybe you could share with our young aspiring drivers here, what is your one advice to them for their future in F1.
To pick 1 advice is very difficult. First, you have to love what you do. If you love racing, it’s definitely the right choice to pursue and it’s important to have the support from your family, sponsors and so on. It is equally important to try your best, be good at school. Dedication to training in order improve your fitness and be ambitious to win are also important. If you really want to achieve something, youhave to believe in it.

Bertemakan “Kembara Kemanusiaan” ia merupakan penutupan daripada pelepasan Simbolik Konvoi Merdeka Ride 2017 pada 3 Ogos  lalu.

Majlis menyakskan ketibaan Anita Bikers Club (10 orang)  pada jam 4.00 petang disambut meriah tetamu utama, Pengarah JPJ Wilayah Persekutuan Kuala Lumpur,  Encik Ismail Bin Zawawi (pix atas, dua dari kiri), Timbalan dan Pengerusi YPNM, Dato’ Nadzim Johan..

Presiden Anita Bikers Club, Anita Yusop ketika ditemui memberitahu, objektif program bertujuan mewujudkan kesedaran serta membina etika pemanduan yang berhemah di atas jalan raya.

“Ini tanggungjawab sosial kita dalam menyemarakkan kempe kembara kemanusian tanpa mengira bangsa,” tambah Anita.

Sejak diperkenalkan pertama kalinya oleh Guardian Malaysia pada tahun 2000, Anugerah Jenama Terunggul Guardian (OBA),  mendapat sambutan hangat dan kini bagi merancakkan lagi kesinambungannya anugerah tahunan berkenaan dilanjutkan bagi edisi ke 17.

Anugerah terkemuka untuk jenama-jenama kesihatan dan kecantikan berkenaan dilancarkan dalam sebuah majlis sidang media baru-baru ini, bertujuan menghubung jutaan pengguna dengan semua rakan-rakan perniagaan dan pemilik jenama mereka, dengan memberi kuasa mengundi kepada pengguna untuk memilih jenama yang terbaik.

Ms Christina Low (pix bawah, kiri), Pengarah Pemasaran Guardian Health and Beauty Sdn Bhd berkata: “Anugerah Jenama Terunggul adalah satu cara kami meraikan dan mengiktiraf kecemerlangan jenama rakan-rakan perniagaan kami.”

Beliau berkata, sejak ia dilancarkan 16 tahun lalu, anugerah tersebut menjadi semakin popular di kalangan para pelanggan Guardian, yang menantikan detik untuk membuat pilihan mereka sekali gus merebut peluang  memenangi hadiah-hadiah menarik.

“Anugerah ini juga telah berkembang sejajar dengan perubahan gaya hidup, perbelanjaan dan trend pengguna. Tahun ini, OBA akan dikendalikan sepenuhnya dalam format digital. Ini bermakna, keseluruhan proses undian akan dilakukan secara dalam talian," tambah beliau.

Bagi OBA 2017, sebanyak 200 jenama akan bersaing dalam 60 kategori antaranya penjagan rambut, penjagaan wajah, kosmetik, kebersihan, makanan tambahan, ubat-ubatan, produk ibu dan bayi dan banyak lagi dan akan ada satu jenama pilihan paling digemari bagi setiap kategori.

Bagi pelanggan, mereka berpeluang untuk memenangi salah satu daripada 50 hadiah yang ditawarkan, berjumlah RM25,000 dalam bentuk baucar Guardian. Antara hadiah yang ditawarkan:

-       Lima (5) hadiah utama bernilai RM1,000 setiap satu
-       Lima (5) hadiah pertama bernilai RM1,000 setiap satu
-       Lima belas (15) hadiah kedua bernilai RM5000 setiap satu, dan
-       Dua puluh lima (25) hadiah saguhati bernilai RM200 setiap satu.

Jelas Christina: “Apa yang telah kami hasilkan adalah sebuah platform undian yang ringkas, mudah dan tersendiri. Pada masa yang sama, set soal selidik tersebut membolehkan kedua-dua Guardian dan rakan-rakan kongsi kami memahami tingkah laku keutamaan jenama dengan lebih baik, sekaligus memberikan gambaran tentang demografi dan segmentasi pengguna.   

“Dengan menghubungkan pengguna kami di seluruh negara dengan jenama-jenama tersebut, dan membantu mereka memahami kehendak pelanggan dengan lebih baik, kami menyumbang kepada pelaburan pemilik jenama dalam  pembangunan hubungan dengan pelanggan mereka,” tambah beliau.

Untuk melayakkan diri mengundi, para pelanggan perlu membelanjakan sekurang-kurangnya RM10 di stor atau secara dalam talian. Kemudian log masuk ke atau imbas kod QR yang diberikan untuk membuat undian. Undian boleh dibuat pada bila-bila masa di antara 1 September dan 27 September 2017.

Peraduan ini terbuka kepada mereka yang berumur 18 tahun dan ke atas. Sebagai bukti pembelian, pembeli hendaklah menyimpan resit Guardian asal yang mengandungi nombor invois cukai, nombor kod kedai, tarikh pembelian dan jumlah pembelian.

Majlis turut menyaksikan penyertaan para media melakukan undian produk kesukaan masing-masing secara dalam talian.

JEMY 2017 started with a bang on Friday, 28th July 2017 when it was officially launched by Mr. Hiroyuki Orikasa, Counselor to the Embassy of Japan, Malaysia, Ms. Yupharet Eakturapakal, President of G-Yu Creative, the organizer of JEMY 2017 and Puan Sri Cindy Lim, Executive Chairman of Kuala Lumpur Pavilion Sdn Bhd by dropping a red token into a unique vending machine.

In an ode to the tremendous support from JEMY 2017 partners, representatives from JETRO Kuala Lumpur, The JAPAN FOUNDATION Kuala Lumpur, Siam Connection, Japan National Tourism Organization, Thai Airways International PCL and Tourism Malaysia KL were invited on stage with JEMY 2017 artistes Minori, Naomichi Hanazono and Thailand designer Kung Kunita for a group photo, before continuing on with a cake-cutting ceremony to commemorate the anniversary.

The celebrations continued over the weekend when Pop Sensation PIKOTARO, popular for his viral song, PPAP or better known as “Pen-Pineapple-Apple-Pen”, saw 8,000 of his loyal fans flock to the Centre Court for his first performance in Malaysia on Saturday, 29th July 2017.

The Japanese idol handpicked 20 lucky fans to join him onstage to do the PPAP dance and dedicated a Malaysian version especially for the event. He then got up-and-personal with fans when they got to meet their idol during his meet-and-greet session in the mall.

Patrons of Pavilion KL were also mesmerised by an exciting line up of artistes and teen idol groups from Japan, with special performances and appearances by Shigeru Matsuzaki, Maito from King Creamsoda, Ryoma Quartet, Naomichi Hanazono, PINK CRES, Haruka Yamashita and Reon Kurosaki. 

Cosplay fans also had a chance to rub shoulders with famous cosplayer Minori who headed the cosplayer parade at JEMY 2017 on Sunday, 30th July 2017.

Special booths promoting Japanese F&B, fashion, beauty, anime and education in Pavilion KL and Fahrenheit88 completed the ‘Infinite Japan’ experience, with food and cake sampling, Yukata dressing, Harajuku Fashion, exciting travel deals to Japan and Japanese products sold exclusively for JEMY 2017.

Before the birth of smartphones, cameras has always been a  must product to carry especially during vacations.

And when speaking of cameras... CANON was one of Kak Fas's favourite brand. Remembered bringing  an IXUS sponsored by CANON during my trip to Hong Kong Music Festival way back in late 90's when covering the event for HAI magazine as an editor, there.

It was a trip cum holiday well remembered till now though  I guess IXUS non digital camera no longer existed after the digital era took priority.

Well that is sure good news for professional photographers but mind you though am not a pro but was attracted with the design and features. But most of all being  a female the Canon EOS M6 which was light weighted at 390 g attracted me most.

Kak Fas had a hold and feel of the M6... and indeed it's the most suitable for ladies like Kak Fas who needed very much a camera to shoot sharp pix at long distance for blogging. Must try to review this awesome product or maybe could get sponsored so I could credit all pic to Canon EOS M6 hahaha... how lucky am I if dreams could turn to reality huhu...

Seperti Kak Fas, rasanya ko orang pun tak berapa 'familiar' dengan jenama Meizu kan?

Jika anda mengalihkan pandangan terlalu cepat anda akan terlepas pandang perincian unik dan halus seperti garisan CD kamera, lingkaran lampu flash dan rekabentuk antena yang minimalis.

Ya tidak lain daripada penyanyi popular terkini iaitu Ayda Jebat serta artis Cina, Min Chen.

Kedua-duanya turut diperkenalkan kala OPPO Malaysia melancarkan OPPO R9s Plus di sebuah majlis baru-baru ini.

OPPO R9s Plus membawa ke hadapan teknologi yang julung kalinya diperkenalkan pada OPPO R9s, di samping penambahan fungsi kamera yang lain. Yang kekal pada telefon pintar ini adalah kamera belakang 16MP, dilengkapi sensor 1./2.8inci SONY IMX398 yang disesuaikan dan dibangunkan bersama oleh SONY dan OPPO. Turut membuat kemunculan semula dalam R9s Plus adalah apertur f/1.7 ekstra-lebar yang berkebolehan memerangkap 40% lebih cahaya berbanding generasi sebelumnya. Kak Fas memang kaki ais krim..... terutama aiskrim bersalut cokelat di luar... memang my favourite.

Jadi apabila mendapat tahu mengenai pelancaran ais krim dari jenama yang tidak asing lagi iaitu Nestle.... sudah tentu Kak Fas tidak mahu melepaskan peluang hadir.

Sebaik mendaftarkan diri Kak Fas nampak satu sudut yang agak menarik di mana para tetamu dan media serta bloggers  berpeluang bermain dengan belon air untuk di campakkan pada sebuah 'poster' gergasi.

Tanpa bertanya lanjut... Kak Fas pun mintalah belon warna merah dan mencampakkannya pada jarak kira-kira 10  meter jauh dan sasaran Kas Fas bagaimana pun terkena sipi poster berkenaan... nasib baik berjaya campak jauh.... ada juga campakkan kekawan tak berjaya mengenai sasaran tau hihi...

Selepas melontar baharulah nampak satu label yang memperlihatkan lambang warna belon yang dipilih.... di sebelah warna merah tertulis 'Courageous"... kira Kak Fas seoran yang 'berani' lah sebab pilih merah kan  hahah...

If a question were asked What is GT Dollar? 

Yours truly am sure you might not know to answer fully well the question raised. In fact, Kak Fas too was not really aware about GT Dollar and its function or objective.

Being curious to know, Kak Fas made an attempt to attend an invitation to the grand launch of GT Dollar in conjucntion with The Malaysia FinTech Ecosystem Conference held at Sime Darby Convention Centre, Bukit Kiara, Kuala Lumpur, recently.

Y.B. Datuk Mas Ermieyati Binti Samsudin (below), Deputy Minister of Tourism and Culture debuted the launch of the e-commerce giant, GT Dollar Malaysia.

The event was witnessed by distinguished government officials as well as 3,000 prominent IT and e-commerce industry leaders who support the development of a dynamic FinTech ecosystem, paving way for SMART innovations like GT Dollar, making Malaysia a force to reckon with in the FinTech sector.

This collaboration between the Malaysian government and GT Dollar helps to alleviate the lives of people through the launch GT Dollar mobile application, which is a “one-stop mobile e-commerce platform” that seeks to build a cohesive community for consumers and merchants from a myriad of industries to interact within its marketplace.

To complement this collaborative effort, GT Robot an innovative high-technological form under the GT Group, specializes its advancement in humanoid robotic solutions. In recognition of it’s advancement, the Malaysian government is planning to allocate a zone located along the Malacca-Negeri Sembilan border for GT Robot’s own manufacturing and assembly plant, which is worth approximate to RM 300 million in investment.

Since it was acquired in  2012 by Sunway REIT and undergone refurbishment, this is the first time Kak Fas step foot into the 650 room Sunway Putra Hotel as it is now known.

Formally, this venue stood the 'Legend Hotel'  and although  a thorough renovation had been done but the main structure still welcome back memories of yesterdays.

Alright now, lets go back to reality....

Recently, Kak Fas had the opportunity to step back into this memorable building  opposite the iconic Putra World Trade Centre (PWTC), where Sunway Putra Hotel is situated next to the  all -new Sunway Putra Mall, of which before it was known as The Mall.

Thanks to the invitation by its friendly and sweet Executive Marketing Communications, Nik Saifatul Azkia (above, middle), Kak Fas together with blogger, Misz Ella (above, right) as she is popular called by friends, had the pleasure of celebrating together Sunway Putra Hotel's 'Time to Give" annual corporate social responsibility initiative, with about 80 underprivileged children and single mothers.

The children and single mothers that were feted at the hotel, were mostly abused, orphaned and/or underprivileged from three different homes in the Klang Valley,  namely Rumah SVP Klang, Rumah Ozanam Klang and Pusat Jagaan Kanak-Kanak Lagenda. 

This initiative was brought to the hotel's attention by two benefactors - the Simple Souls which was founded by Sashi Kumar Nair, his wife Sumita Yashvant Kumar and assisted by his childhood friend Mr. Shanmugayogan Shanmuganthan, and Charity Food Basket Society Klang which was founded by Mr. Chew Song Kong.

Their initial idea was to treat these unfortunate children to a good meal at a 5-star hotel. 

However, in the spirit of good triumphing evil and light over dark that represents the purpose of the Festival of Lights, Sunway Putra Hotel collaborated with Sunway Putra Mall which is adjacent to the hotel, to develop a program that is more than just an open house concept for the children. 

Sunway Putra Mall had graciously sponsored RM 10 vouchers for each child to  spent at the TCBY Frozen Yogurt & Mrs Field’s Cookies outlet located on the Lower Ground at the mall.

This activity was intended to give the children an experience in shopping for themselves and at the same time the pleasure of enjoying ice-cream and cookies. 

Next the children, spent about an hour playing at the Playland, Parenthood located on Level 2, Sunway Putra Mall. Parenthood sponsored 80 Limitless Play vouchers that introduced these children to edutainment and fun-filled time in their indoor playground. 

After much shopping and fun,  the excited children were then ushered to the Sunway Putra Hotel where they were treated to a Hi-Tea fit for a king with popular Indian dishes such as Lamb Kofta with Masala, Biryani Rice, Chicken Kurma and Vegetable Dhall Curry. 

Speaking at the event, Sunway Putra Hotel Director of Finance, Mr. Sivamayam Gunaratnam on behalf of General Manager Sunway Putra Hotel, Mr. Christopher Bong said, “Sunway Putra Hotel has always been committed to foster harmony in our society and empower the lives of our future generation. Therefore, it is our privilege to live these values through our initiative today.”

“Having said that, we are also proud to announce that this would be our biggest corporate social responsibility initiative to-date, after having wrapped up our refurbishment and renovation exercise that lasted almost three (3) years in December 2015,” he continued. 

'Time to Give' Sunway Putra Hotel, launched in December 2015, is a CSR program that reaches out to the underprivileged and less fortunate during festive seasons throughout the year. The campaign also encourages employees of the hotel to participate and volunteer their time and capabilities to help these unfortunate members of the society. 

Other highlights at the event, was the presentation of 120 hampers to the underprivileged children and single mothers as well as “duit raya” which were solely arranged by Simple Souls and Charity Food Basket Society Klang.

Siapa tidak kenal kepada ahli sukan tinju profession seperti Allahyarham Muhammad Ali mahu pun Mike Tyson, Sugar Ray Robinson  atau pun Manny Pacquiao.

Mereka antara nama yang masih kekal masyhur dibibir peminat sukan tinju  namun persoalannya mungkinkah ada anak tempatan yang boleh setanding dengan mereka?

Bila agaknya sukan tinju negara mampu melahirkan nama besar di peringkat antarabangsa? Hanya Allah yang maha mengetahui jawapan itu betul tak? 

Apa pun yang perlu manusia lakukan adalah usaha dan biarkan Tuhan menentukan kejayaannya.

Dan sebagai langkah awal, World Boxin Council (WBC), sebuah organisasi terkemuka dalam sukan tinju professional baru-baru ini telah mengumumkan
 dengan rasmi pengesahannya terhadap Malaysia Professional Boxing Association (MBA) sebagai satu-satunya pentas  yang dengan rasminya diiktiraf untuk peninju-peninju tempatan memakbulkan impian untuk mencapai peringkat antarabangsa.

Dengan pengiktirafan itu barangkali dapatlah para peninju negara melakukan latihan profesional dalam merealisasikan cita-cita mereka  mencipta nama di peringkat global.
Pengiktirafan berkenaan diperoleh dengan persetujuan  WBC dan MBA yang mencipta platform kepada peninju-peninju tempatan untuk membuktikan kehebatan mereka.

Setiausaha Agung WBC Asia, Patrick Cusick berkata, “Kami memang teruja bekerjasama dengan MBA kerana kami percaya terdapat ramai bakat-bakat tinju di Malaysia dan kawasan sekitarnya. Kami seakan-akan menemui sebuah lombong berlian yang belum digali! Kini kami sedia untuk menggali.”

Pengerusi MBA dan Pengarah Urusan Muayfit Puchong, Raymond Lew  pula  dalam ucapannya berkata, , “Memang impian semua peninju boleh berbangga untuk bertanding di tempat-tempat glamor seperti Las Vegas dimana Mike Tyson atau Manny Pacquiao pernah bertarung. Namun, peninju-peninju Malaysia tidak pernah mendapat peluang ini kerana kami tidak pernah mempunyai pengiktirafan darpada mana-mana badan rasmi. Hari ini, kami menunaikan impian ini!”

Hari berkenaan (30 Oktober 2016)  juga merupakan kesudahan sebuah seminar yang berlangsung selama 2 hari dengan ahli panel terdiri daripada :-

Patrick Cusick – Setiausaha Agung WBC Asia, Lembaga Gabenor WBC, Ahli Jawatankuasa Kedudukan (Rating) WBC

Bruce McTavish – Pemenang Pelbagai Anugerah dan Pengadil Tinju Termasyhur, Ketua Pengadil & Hakim WBC

Brico Santig – Promoter Terbaik WBC OPBF

Ketiga-tiga pakar ini mempersembahkan sijil pengesahan kepada peserta yang menghabiskan seminar 2 hari, langsung menjadikan mereka hakim dan pengadil yang sah dibawah WBC.

Seminar ini hanya langkah pertama di mana acara lebih besar yang akan datang meliputi Kejohanan WBC Asia, buat pertama kalinya dijadualkan di Malaysia pada Januari 2017. 

Peninju-peninju tempatan bakal beraksi manakala pengadil-pengadil dan hakim-hakim yang dilantik bakal menjalankan tugas mereka.

Acara utama merupakan pertarungan kejohanan untuk merebut pingat dan tali pinggang WBC Asia Featherweight, suatu pertarungan antara Siapa? Dari mana? dan Siapa? Dari mana?

Malaysia Professional Boxing Association (MBA) merupakan satu-satunya organisasi di Malaysia yang disahkan oleh World Boxing Council (WBC) untuk melatih dan menganjurkan kejohanan tinju. Muayfit ialah afiliasi MBA yang diakui oleh dan www.thefightnation.comsebagai salah satu daripada 10 gim MMA terbaik di seluruh Asia.

World Boxing Council (WBC) dibentukkan pada tahun 1963,  merupakan organisasi terkemuka dunia dalam sukan tinju profesional. Antara mereka yang pernah diiktiraf oleh WBC sebagai juara dunia adalah Floyd Mayweather Jr, Muhammad Ali, Joe Frazier, Mike Tyson dan Manny Pacquiao.



 “Who is the best of you?” 

This seems like a simple question. 

But mind you, given a postcard and a pen to write about the best of you in less than 5 minutes might even  lead you to stare still for a moment in finding words to express yourself. We really do need a while to think about it. 

But glad I manage to write bout the best of myself as a wife, a mother and a carier women but most of all my journalistic experience for the past 28 years.

Yours truly kinda ezperience the same situation while attending the exhibition of The Best of You' at AEON Bandaraya Bersejarah in Melaka recently.

Actually, this movement initiated by biscuit manufacturer, Julie's started way back in 2014, launched in Malaysia and Singapore, but this is the first time Kak Fas was introduced to such programme thanks to Swee Lan, the friendly PR  from Singnan Communications Sdn Bhd who invited me  to witness the exhibition in Melaka that runs from 19 October till 23 October 2016 recently.

In Malaysia, the movement received almost 4,000 participation during their exhibition road tours at UNIKL, AEON Bukit Tinggi, AEON Shah Alam dan Gurney Plaza, Penang this year.

At first sight, Kak Fas was like at lost as to what the exhibition was all about. but later while viewing the exhibits displayed around, made me understand more... and that was the reason as to why Kak Fas was like speechless in thoughts as what to write about  the best of me when given a postcard that would then be attached with our  pictures taken at the event with the hashtag #juliesforthebest and then hang at the exhibition with others.
