ONE DOC-UTAR SIGNED MoA COLLABORATING ON AESTHETIC TREATMENT RESEARCH

The signing of MoA between Tengku Dato' Seri Baderul Zaman (2nd from left) and Ir. Prof Dr. Ewe Hong Tat (2nd from right) witnessed by Dr. Terrence and Dr Yong (right).

HAVE you heard about One Doc?

For those in the beauty industry, it may sound familiar but for those whom aren’t aware of its existence 1 Doc is a multi-award winning PicopulseTM Centre which focuses on non-invasive facial treatments for skin-related problems such as acne, pores, pigmentation and aging skin.

Founded in 2016, with a team of highly trained therapists, its PicopulseTM treatments are of the safest and highest quality standards testified with proven results.

In short, One Doc has established itself as the market leader that specialises in PicopulseTM treatment.

In 2019, One Doc emerged as the centre with the largest number of PicopulseTM devices in Malaysia.

And recently, 1 Doc Holding Sdn Bhd (One Doc) and Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR) entered into a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) beginning 14 December 2020.

The MoA was signed by Tengku Dato' Seri Baderul Zaman Ibni Almarhum Sultan Mahmud, the Chairman of 1 Doc Holdings Sdn Bhd and Ir. Professor Dr. Ewe Hong Tat, the President and Chief Executive Officer of Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman.

The signing was witnessed by Dr. Terrence Teoh Tean Chun, Co Founder  & Group Managing Director of One Doc and Dr. Yong Thian Khok, Director of the Institute of Postgraduate Studies & Research.

The signing of the MoA thrusts a collaborative aesthetic research between the two corporations on the effectiveness and safety evaluation of the beauty grade device One Doc PicopulseTM for the treatment of melasma among Malaysian women.

This initial research will be conducted at One Doc centre located at Klang Valley.

“This topic is a new research effort in Malaysia, and we are excited to begin this journey with UTAR in order to help those who are suffering from this skin disorder,” said Dr. Terrence Teoh.

Am sure everyone wants to know what is melasma exactly?

Melasma is a type of skin pigmentation disorder that causes brown or grey patches to appear on the skin, primarily on the face, especially among pregnant women.

One Doc seeks to develop an improved technique and solution that can overcome melasma with the assistance of the university's expertise.

The collaborative research has three phases with the initial focus on melasma.

The second phase will move its focus to study on possible solutions of anti-hair loss among men. Once conclusive studies are derived from these two phases, it will then initiate the third phase with the focus of product development.

With this collaboration, One Doc also welcomes students who wishes to learn more about aesthetic to intern at their centre.

At present, UTAR  accommodates 23,000 students whilst has graduated over 67,000 students since its inaugural convocation in 2005.

The University currently offers more than 110 programmes from Foundation Studies to Bachelor's, Master's, and PhD degrees.

UTAR is ranked #501-600 in the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings 2021, and ranked #119 in the Times Higher Education (THE) Asia University Rankings 2020.

Thus,  being welcomed into this not-for-profit private university established in 2002, owned by the UTAR Education Foundation is an honour, don’t you think so?
