ANIMENIA 2024 SHOWCASE ORCHESTRAL CONCERT & COSPLAY!



NAMING
these two ladies, Sharon Paul and Jennifer Thompson, who wouldn’t know them as they are both actively involved in the music industry.


Sharon is a renowned award-winning Malaysian composer and producer while Jenniffer better known in the industry as “Kak Jen” was the General Manager for  Persatuan Akademi Industri Music Malaysia (AIM) for 15 years. 


She also produced “Anugerah Bintang Popular” (the Malaysian “People’s Choice Award”) for 9 years.


And whats new is next year both will work together beyond their usual comfort zone, embarking on a different direction with the announcement of an ambitious, vibrant and colourful musical creation to date - Animenia 2024.


Founded by Sharon with technical input from the industry heavyweight Jennifer Thompson, Animeia 2004 is set to be staged at Jio Space in Petaling Jaya on 3rd & 4th February 2024


‘The idea to organised Animenia is partly due to my sons interest on Anime and for that reason the two days carnival will be open to the public from the age of 10,” said Sharon Paul at a press conference held at the Concourse in Sungei Wang Plaza , Kuala Lumpur, recently.



Other invited attendees are non other than Kak Jen, as well as singer Asmidar, prop maker and renowned  cosplayer  Abdullah Othman  or better known as Abudora with  few other cosplayer in various costume of their choice.


With the trust and significant funding by MyCreative Ventures, and the complete support by the Ministry of Communications & Digital, the anime-themed orchestral concert and cosplay gathering is expected to be one of the most notable events of 2024. 


Focusing on fusing together music and the Cosplay community while celebrating anime from around the world, Animenia 2024 will feature a 48-piece ensemble consisting of an orchestra, 4 traditional music instruments, choir by Elcoro Ensemble and a backing band, along with the Malaysian artistes.



“With its attractive themes and innovative ideas, we will have activities for the whole family, from ages 9  or 10 onwards,” added Sharon expecting more than 3,000 anime and music fans attending  the festival over the two-day period.


It will also see a variety of activities including an ACG exhibition & bazaar featuring cosplay products and  food, various competitions that include costume, cosplay skits, dance, anisong and Mobile Legends, and will end with a tea dance featuring several prominent DJs.



Sharon Paul who is the owner of Musicwerks Studio & Werkit Records whilst acting as musical director for Animenia said, conducting the orchestra is MK Ridzuan, a renowned musician in a symphony orchestra, mainly as an oboist. 


MK Ridzuan ventured into traditional music as a flute, serunai and gendang player. His debut performance as a traditional musician was in Middlesex and Cambridge, in the United Kingdom, performing Mak Yong and Ghazal songs.



Animenia 2024 will be project managed by 10-year film industry veteran Aishah who has been with Primeworks Studios for 9 years. 


Besides content creation and producing, she has also been involved in the biggest TV station programs including Anugerah Juara Lagu, Anugerah Skrin, Anugerah Bintang Popular and the Lazada Concert. 


She also coordinated with Royal Protocol Malaysia for the 8th Asean Textiles Symposium, together with the Raja Permaisuri Agung and recently became the Project Manager for the SOG’s Reimaginasi concert.


Animenia 2024 will be hosted by renowned Malaysian cosplayer, J-Rock enthusiast and vocalist Hsachiko (read as Sa-Chi-ko).
